TheUC3-10A6monoclonalantibodyreactswithanepitopeonthedeltachainofthemouseVγ2TCR(Vgamma2Tcellreceptor).Vγ2TCRexpressingTlymphocytesmakeupalargeproportionoftheγδTcellsinlatefetalandadultthymus,peripherallymphoidtissues,lung,intestinalepithelium,andepidermis.Theexactfunction,ligand,andspecificityofγδTCR-expressingTcellsarenotcompletelyunderstood.StudiessuggestthatthesecellsrecognizebacterialligandsandsometumorcellsinthecontextofMHCclassI-likegeneproductsandplayaroleinregulatingtheimmuneresponseduringbacterialinfection.TheUC3-10A6antibodyhasbeenshowntodepleteγδTcellswhenadmiNISTeredinvivo.
