ThePC-61.5.3monoclonalantibodyreactswithmouseIL-2RαalsoknownasCD25,Ly-43,p55,orTac.IL-2Rαisthe55kDaligand-bindingsubunitoftheinterleukin2receptoralphachain.IL-2RαisexpressedonactivatedmatureTandBlymphocytes,thymocytesubsets,pre-Bcells,andTregulatorycells.IL-2Rαhasbeenshowntoplayrolesinlymphocytedifferentiation,activation,andproliferation.Alone,theIL-2RαbindsIL-2withrelativelylowaffinityhowever,whenIL-2RαassociateswithIL-2Rβ(CD122)andthecommongammachain(CD132)thecomplexbindsIL-2withhighaffinity.ThePC-61.5.3antibodyhasbeenshowntoinhibitthebindingofIL-2toboththelowandhighaffinityIL-2receptorforms.Additionally,thePC-61.5.3antibodyiscommonlyusedtodepleteCD4+FoxP3+Tregulatorycellsinvivo.
