TheYN1/1.7.4monoclonalantibodyreactswithmouseCD54alsoknownasIntercellularAdhesionMolecule-1(ICAM-1).CD54isa90kDasingle-chaintransmembraneglycoproteinandamemberoftheIgsuperfamily.CD54istypicallyexpressedonnon-hematopoieticcellssuchasendothelialcells,thymicepithelialcells,andfibroblastsbutcanalsobeexpressedonmacrophages,T-lymphoblasts,germinalcenterBcellsanddendriticcells.CD54isaligandforLFA-1,areceptorfoundonleukocytes.Whenactivated,leukocytesbindtoendothelialcellsviaCD54/LFA-1tofacilitatetransmigrationintotissues.Pro-inflammatorycytokinessuchasIL-1,TNFandIFNγinduceCD54expressiononendothelialcellsandfibroblasts.TheYN1/1.7.4antibodyhasbeenshowntoneutralizeCD54invivoandinhibitCXCL1,IFNγ,andIL-17productionandneutrophilinfiltrationintoinflammatorylesions.
