TheFIB504monoclonalantibodyreactswithhumanandmouseIntegrinbeta7whichisa130kDaglycoproteinbelongingtotheIgsuperfamily.Integrinβ7associateswithintegrinα4(CD49d)toformintegrinα4β7alsoknownasLPAM-1aswellasintegrinαE(CD103)toformintegrinαEβ7.Integrinα4β7signalswhenboundtoitsligandsVCAM-1(CD106),MAdCAM-1andfibronectin,whileintegrinαEβ7bindstoE-cadherin(CD324).Integrinα4β7isexpressedbyperipherallymphocytes,smallsubsetsofthymocytes,andbonemarrowProgenitorswhileintegrinαEβ7isexpressedonintestinalintraepitheliallymphocytes,Tregulatorycells,andasubsetofCD8+Tcellsinthelaminapropriaandlymphnodes.Integrinβ7playsrolesintheadhesionofimmunecellstoendothelialcellstherebymediatingcellmigrationandhomingduringaninflammatoryresponse.TheFIB504antibodyhasbeenshowntohaveblockingactivity.
