The2H5antibodyreactswithmouse,human,andratCCL2alsoknownasmonocytechemoattractantprotein1(MCP-1).CCL2isa13kDachemokinethatisproducedmainlybymonocytes/macrophagesbutisalsoexpressedbyendothelial,fibroblasts,epithelial,smoothmuscle,mesangial,astrocytic,andmicroglialcells.Itcanbeexpressedconstitutivelyorafterinductionbyoxidativestress,cytokines,orgrowthfactors.CCL2regulatesthemigrationandinfiltrationofmonocytes,memoryTlymphocytes,andNKcellsandisimplicatedinthepathogenesesofseveraldiseasescharacterizedbymonocyticinfiltrates,suchasmultiplesclerosis,psoriasis,rheumatoidarthritis,andatherosclerosis.The2H5antibodyhasbeenshowntoneutralizetheBIOLOGicaleffectsofCCL2invivo.
