
TheXMG1.2monoclonalantibodyreactswithmouseIFNγ(interferongamma)a20kDasolublepleiotropiccytokineandthesolememberofthetypeIIclassofinterferons.IFNγisprimarilyproducedbyactivatedlymphocytesincludingT,B,NKcells,andILCs.IFNγexertsimmunoregulatory,anti-proliferative,anti-viral,andproinflammatoryactivitiesandplaysanimportantroleinactivation,growth,anddifferentiationofTandBlymphocytes,macrophages,NKcellsandothernon-hematopoieticcelltypes.Additionally,IFNγinducestheproductionofcytokines,Fcreceptor,andadhesionmoleculesandup-regulatesMHCclassIandIIantigenexpressionbyantigenpresentingcellsduringanimmuneresponse.IFNγhasalsobeenshowntomodulatemacrophageeffectorfunctions,influenceisotypeswitchingandinducethesecretionofimmunoglobulinsbyBcells.IFNγsignalsthroughtheIFNgammareceptorwhichexistsasaheterodimercomposedofCD119(IFNgammareceptor1)andAF-1(IFNgammareceptor2).TheIFNγreceptorisexpressedubiquitouslyonalmostallcelltypeswiththeexceptionofmatureerythrocytes.TheXMG1.2antibodyisaneutralizingantibody.
